Samsung Announces Blockchain-based Security System For Its Smart Homes
Samsung is releasing a blockchain-based security solution for its connected devices. The Samsung Knox Matrix will connect all smart devices within a home onto a private blockchain network for enhanced security.

Samsung has announced the ‘Knox Matrix’, a new blockchain-based security protocol for all its smart devices. The cross-device security solutions system will be launched at the upcoming Samsung Developer Conference (SDC).
“Today’s lifestyles are more connected than ever – from our smartphones to our smart homes, it is easier than ever to get more with our devices. However, as our connectivity grows, so, too, can our concerns around maintaining peace of mind when using connected device ecosystems,” said the company in a press release.
According to the company, Knox Matrix will function as the user’s “own private blockchain system”, where all Samsung devices used in a household including smartphones, TV, refrigerator, laptop, smart watch, tablet and air conditioners will be interconnected within a “multilayered monitoring network”.
To protect the owner’s smart home from breaches and enhance security, Knox Matrix will use a device-to-device secure messaging system that will allow smart devices to share sensitive information with each other over the Samsung blockchain. The software will work across Samsung’s devices on Android and Tizen.
“Samsung believes protection must be collaborative, end-to-end and in-real time, so that our approach is constantly evolving to stay ahead of threats and keep our users safe. That’s why Samsung smart devices are protected by the Samsung Knox security platform, which provides defense-grade security certified for use by the many top government agencies around the world.”
The company also announced expansion of its partnership with Google to improve smart home experiences.
