Microsoft partners with Aptos and will explore digital payments and tokenization.

Microsoft and Aptos Labs, a blockchain startup founded by former Meta employees, have announced a new partnership to explore innovative solutions in artificial intelligence, tokenization, digital payments, and central bank digital currencies. The partnership will leverage Microsoft’s Azure OpenAI Service, a cloud-based platform that provides access to OpenAI’s powerful artificial intelligence models, such as GPT-4 and Codex.

Aptos Labs is the creator of the Aptos Network, a layer 1 blockchain that aims to provide a scalable, secure, and decentralized platform for web3 applications. The network uses a novel consensus mechanism called Proof-of-Engagement (PoE), which rewards users for their active participation and contribution to the network. The network also supports smart contracts, decentralized apps, and native tokens.

Microsoft and Aptos Partner to Enhance Web3 with AI and Blockchain Innovations

One of the main goals of the partnership is to use Microsoft’s artificial intelligence capabilities to enhance the user experience and developer productivity on the Aptos Network. For example, Aptos Labs will introduce Aptos Assistant. This user-friendly and secure digital assistant can answer questions regarding the Aptos Network, help users create and manage their wallets and accounts, and guide them through various web3 activities. Additionally, Aptos Labs will use Microsoft’s Codex model to generate code from natural language to help developers build smart contracts and decentralized apps more quickly and efficiently.

Another partnership goal is to explore new possibilities and use cases for tokenization, digital payments, and central bank digital currencies on the Aptos Network. Tokenization is creating digital representations of real-world assets or values on a blockchain. Digital payments are transactions that use digital tokens or currencies as a medium of exchange. Central bank digital currencies are digital versions of national currencies issued by central banks. These technologies can transform the global economy and society by enabling more inclusive, transparent, and efficient financial systems.

Microsoft and Aptos Labs believe that by combining artificial intelligence and blockchain, they can create innovative solutions that can drive web3 adoption and benefit millions of users and developers worldwide. The partnership will produce several prototypes and proof-of-concepts in the coming months.
