Twitter vs. InstaText: The Battle for Text Dominance.
Social media giant Instagram is rumored to be venturing into uncharted territory by launching a text-based app that aims to directly rival Twitter.

Instagram parent company, Meta, purportedly announced its plan to build a text-based discussion app in a secret meeting with select authors. The claimed future app’s screenshots depict a user experience similar to Twitter.
Who discovered Instagram’s strategy to compete with Twitter?
Lia Haberman, an influencer marketing and social media marketing instructor at the University of California, Los Angeles Extension, discovered Instagram’s strategy to compete with Twitter. Although the text-based app is built on top of Instagram, it is decentralized and will work as a separate app, according to Haberman. The software will also work with other decentralized social media platforms, such as Mastodon, allowing users to reach a larger audience.
Instagram’s new text-based app Software:
The new software would have a centralized feed similar to Twitter, allowing users to access content such as text, photographs, and videos published by followers and suggested accounts. Each text-based post will have a word restriction of 500 characters.
While the app will operate independently of Instagram, creator restrictions and account safety measures such as blacklisted accounts and keywords will be carried over.
Bloomberg reporter Sarah Frier on Instagram’s Twitter-like app:
Insiders verified the creation of Instagram’s Twitter-like app to Bloomberg reporter Sarah Frier. In March, Meta announced plans to create a solo decentralized social network, saying, “We’re exploring a standalone decentralized social network for sharing text updates.” As a result, there is a need for a dedicated location where creators and public figures may communicate timely information about their interests.
TBD, a division of Jack Dorsey’s financial startup Block — introduced a Web5 decentralized web platform that intends to offer “decentralized identity and data storage” to applications to decentralize the internet further. TBD’s web5 platform will include numerous critical components and leverage decentralized identifiers to allow this decentralized web experience.
Conclusion:
The text-based program is said to have a number of novel features, such as real-time updates, customizable profiles, and various formatting possibilities. By delivering a user-friendly interface, Instagram hopes to establish itself as a competitive competitor in the text-based communication field.
Instagram is preparing to launch a text-based app, which social media enthusiasts and industry professionals look forward to. Will Instagram’s new product challenge Twitter’s hegemony in the text-based space? The only way to know is to wait and see. Stay tuned as the war for social media supremacy plays out in front of our eyes.
