Illuvium is the first AAA game on the Ethereum blockchain. The open-world fantasy battle game offers gamers a wide range of in-game features alongside DeFi capabilities.

Illuvium’s world is inhabited by creatures known as Illuvials. The creatures can be captured by players that defeat them in battle. Players can then nurse the Illuvials back to health and they become part of the player’s collection. Illuvials can be used in battles against other Illuvials.

The game is open-world where users can explore the landscape while building up their powerful creatures and battling other players.

Although Illuvium is built with blockchain-based features, the game acts as a full-fledged video game. The game has a desktop app with decentralized exchange and yield farming services.

Players explore the world of Illuvium by battling illuvials and other players, and completing quests and daily challenges. As the game progresses, players will collect more Illuvials, which have different characteristics that make them variable in rarity, utility and desirability. Illuvials are divided into two main categories:

1. Classes : Empath, Fighter, Guardian, Rogue and Psion

2. Affinities : Air, Fire, Earth, Nature and Water

The Illuvials also have other additional attributes that determine its strength in battle. These include:

1. Attack damage

2. Attack speed

3. Savagery

The game contains 100 unique Illuvials designed by a team of world-class artists and every Illuvial is represented by a unique NFT which can be traded on the platform’s IlluviDEX. The game also features multiple revenue streams such as purchase of in-game items, crafting components, cosmetics and shard curing. The revenue is distributed as rewards to those staking ILV tokens on the platform’s yield program.

Illuvium is built on Immutable X (IMX) – Ethereum’s Layer-2 scaling solution for DApps with NFT functionality. By using Immutable X, the game ensures players can mint and trade their NFTs faster with zero transaction fees. Immutable X also ensures players maintain custody of their digital assets.

2. IlluviDEX

The game features a built-in decentralized exchange called IlluviDEX. It can be used to exchange in-game assets in a trustless manner. A 5% fee is deducted from each sale and sent to the reward pool of ILV stakers.

Illuvium has a maximum supply of 10 million ILV, of which 3 million ILV tokens are allocated to the platform’s Yield Farming program. ILV stakers are rewarded over a period of three years through various reward programs. All ILV rewards earned through the yield farm are locked for a period of one year before they can be withdrawn.

Stakers do have the option to withdraw their locked rewards before the one-year term by converting ILV tokens to an in-game asset known as sILV.

Users can opt to earn their yield rewards in USD equivalent to the sILV, which then can be used to purchase in-game items. sILV tokens cannot be withdrawn from the game and is not backed by any blockchain-based asset
