Arbitrum Foundation and Fracton Ventures Join Forces to Promote Ethereum Layer 2 Adoption in Japan.
Arbitrum Foundation and Fracton Ventures team up to boost Ethereum Layer 2 adoption in Japan, advancing blockchain technology.

To accelerate the adoption of Ethereum Layer 2 in Japan, the Arbitrum Foundation has partnered with protocol studio Fracton Ventures. The collaboration aims to establish Arbitrum’s presence in the Japanese market through the launch of Arbitrum Japan, a platform designed to drive ecosystem growth and educate the community.
Recognizing the enormous potential of the Japanese market, the Arbitrum Foundation’s Head of Ecosystem Development, Nina Rong, highlighted the opportunity to introduce blockchain technology and demonstrate how Arbitrum has become the leading Layer 2 scaling platform in the industry. The collaboration with Fracton Ventures allows them to reach developers, innovators, and curious consumers who have yet to explore the benefits of blockchain.
Fracton Ventures’ Head of Partnerships, Siddharth Pillai, expressed confidence in successfully delivering the vision of Arbitrum Japan. Pillai emphasized the untapped potential in the Japanese blockchain sector, which has had limited exposure to leading technology and developer tools. By introducing Arbitrum Japan, Pillai believes they can fully harness the power of blockchain within the region.
The partnership between the Arbitrum Foundation and Fracton Ventures will pursue a dual approach to achieve their objectives. The first focuses on business development and ecosystem building, while the second emphasizes education and community support.
Based in Japan, Fracton Ventures will leverage its network of experts, investors, and developers to foster collaboration between companies operating in web2 and web3 spaces. This collaboration is expected to drive business development within the Arbitrum ecosystem.
The second prong of the strategy involves expanding technical education content through Ask-Me-Anything (AMA) sessions and hackathons. University ambassadors and community managers will play a pivotal role in promoting the adoption of Arbitrum among consumers.
With its crypto-friendly environment, Japan has established itself as an ideal location for the crypto industry’s growth. Prime Minister Fumio Kishida has expressed optimism about the transformative potential of web3 and its ability to contribute to societal change.
Arbitrum has already made significant progress since its token airdrop in March 2023, coinciding with the launch of the Arbitrum Foundation. Despite initial controversy, Arbitrum has emerged as a dominant player in the Ethereum Layer 2 scaling market, surpassing rivals such as Optimism and Coinbase’s Base regarding total value locked (TVL). Currently, Arbitrum boasts a TVL of $5.9 billion across Layer 2 chains, according to L2BEAT.
