a16z Raises $40 Million For Golden, A Decentralized Knowledge Protocol
Golden has raised $40 million in a funding round led by venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz. The blockchain-based decentralized knowledge protocol that rewards users for sharing and verifying data, is scheduled to launch its mainnet in mid 2023.

Golden, a decentralized knowledge protocol, has raised $40 million in a Series B funding round led by a16z, the Web3 investment arm of venture capital Andreessen Horowitz. Other participants in the funding round include Protocol Labs, OpenSea Ventures and founders of Solana, Dropbox, Postmates and Twitch.
Golden is developing a decentralized interface that incentivizes users for collection and verification of data. With the funding, the project will continue to build its protocol, which is designed to create standards for Web3-based data discovery and verification systems.
According to the project team, more than 35,000 users have participated in early testing of the protocol.
Golden plans to launch a native token for rewarding validators and contributors to the platform and has stated that the final version of the protocol will not simply be a Web3 version of Wikipedia. The knowledge platform has scheduled release of its mainnet for the second quarter of 2023.
In addition to the funding, a16z co-founder Marc Andreessen, and Ali Yahya, the General Partner at Andreessen Horowitz, will join the board of Golden protocol.
